Practise 15 Funnel and descriptive leads

        EXERCISE 1

              Now it is your turn to write a funnel lead. You will use the following essay prompt to guide you. 

    Essay Prompt: The school board is considering implementing a longer school day. Some teachers are against it because it will affect sport practices. Other teachers are for it because students need to be better prepared for high education after high school and a longer school day means more time to learn for the students. In an essay, to be read by the school board, write why the school day should or should not be longer.

    HINT: Before you begin, think about the upside-down triangle. You will begin with a broader topic and narrow it down to your thesis. If you write your thesis first then you will know where you are going with your introduction.

                Brainstorm Topic:

1.  Adding school hours has been a contoversial topic that has many diffrents opinions.

2. School requires to a student to ahve less hours to do other things.

3. The students would employ more time for studying than to be with theri families. 

4. In my opinion, these causes more disavantages for the students. 

5. If we think in the students, they would be more tired than normal, they would not have time to have social life with other students or evne their families, even it would make that the students hate the subjects. 

        EXERCISE 2

        Descriptive leads: If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

        If I could go on vacation anywhere in the world it could be difficult to choose only one. I would like to go to many places such as UK, France, Italy ang my dream travel would be Egypt. But as I cannot travel to Egypt because it is a little dangerous, I would go to Italy. I would choose these one because it is a country surrounded by water, the climate is warm, and also it is really close from my country, so if sometimes I want to somebody come to me it is near. However, for me the things that I love the most are the monuments, the cities and the language. I am in loved with almost everything that has Italy, for me it would be a dream to be in the Renaissance country. It would be awesome to watch the sunsets, sunrises and the nigths with that gorgeous monuments.
